This is the X10 Socket Rocket remote controlled mini screw-in lamp module model number LM15A. Has also been sold as the model number RLM20. This is a very unique lamp module in that it has no code wheels which allows for an extremely compact design. It is just 2-1/2 inches long and 1-1/4 inches in diameter, with a 3/8 of an inch bump on one side. When installed, it adds 1-1/4 inches to the length of the bulb, so you will need that much clearance for it to fit. Its diameter is smaller than most bulbs, so there should be no problem there. Can be used indoors or outdoors with up to a 150 watt bulb, incandescent only--no fluorescent or LED bulbs. Requires an X10 transceiver module or security system base receiver for wireless remote control.

Its code is set up from any X10 controller (wired or wireless) and it then remembers this code, even if the power fails. You simply screw it into any light fixture, screw in a bulb, turn the power on, and then send it a code from any X10 controller within 30 seconds. You send the same code three times. When the Socket Rocket receives the same code for the third time it turns on to let you know that it has "learned" the code and then remembers this code indefinitely, even if the power fails. To "teach" it a new code, you just remove the power, re-apply it, and then send the new code three times. The next Socket Rocket you install will not override the last one due to the 30 second time-to-program feature.

The fact that it remembers the code even after the power is removed means that you can set up the code in any convenient indoor lamp and then move the module to its final location, which might be in an outside light fixture for example. This means you don't have to install it outside and then run in and out of the house while setting it up.

Special Operational Notes on the LM15A/RLM20

The Socket Rocket does not have local control. If used in a lamp or outside light, you can't turn the light on with the switch. Of course you can turn it off. You have to leave the switch always ON, then the light is turned ON or OFF by the LM15A lamp module via an X10 controller.
